About Columbia

Columbia is the capital city of South Carolina and is located in the center of the state (pop. 116,278). In addition to the historic State House grounds, Columbia offers a wide variety of cultural, artistic, social, and family activities for everyone. Whether you enjoy jogging along the Congaree River or taking in a concert at a local venue, you can always find something to do in Columbia. The city is the perfect blend of big-city feel and small town charm.
If you need to get away from the city for a few days, Columbia is just two hours away from the relaxation of the beach and the mountains. Or, if the big-city lifestyle calls you, you are only a short drive from Charlotte and Atlanta.
The climate in Columbia includes long spring and autumn seasons, sunny summers, and short, mild winters. Temperatures lows/highs average between 32-55 degrees in the winter and 70-92 degrees in the summer. Average annual snowfall in South Carolina is less than 2 inches, with most of that falling in the Upstate Region surrounding the mountains.
